“NEW YEAR – NEW BEGINNING”
The beginning of each year is like a blank slate. This year can be what you want it to be.
This is liberating, exciting and magical.
Take advantage of this, my friends.
Having said that, I also believe that we always have the magic of a fresh start available to us — in any day, any hour, any moment. In fact, every morning is a fresh start! Right at this moment, while you’re reading this, you have the opportunity of a fresh start.
We should take advantage of these opportunities.
Recently, I started following (on Instagram) a professor at a very renowned university. This was at a time when I felt I wasn’t doing as much as I could or working with my full potential. In one of her posts, she advised: “Start at one.” I related this to how when we are counting things, and sometimes lose track of the number, we start at one. For instance, I was counting the other day. Suddenly, I lost count and started at one. Often, we need to do this with bigger and much more important things in our lives.
Start at One — this is one of my mottos this year
Let’s look at how to practice this mantra.
A Fresh Start in Each Day
Ask yourself these questions every morning:
- What would I like to do with this beautiful day?
- How this day can be made incredible for me?
- What am I feeling called to do today? What’s most important?
You can choose to wipe the slate clean of whatever happened the day before (no matter what it was), and just start fresh.
And then you get a couple hours into doing what you planned to do, and maybe you find yourself off course or distracted.
Take a deep breath, and imagine the next moment is a blank slate. What is most important to you right now? What would you like to do with this incredible moment/hour/day?
Start again And find gratitude and feel grateful that you get to start again, over and over.
Blank Slate of the New Year
We’re about two weeks into the new year, and you might have already started to lose the freshness of this new year. But remember, we’re just starting out! We’re at the very beginning. We can do whatever we want with this year.
What would make this a remarkable and fruitful year for you?
What all is possible for you this year?
Who would you like to be this year?
Take a notebook and spend 30 minutes thinking about these questions, and writing out some pointers or answers.
Is this the year you finally start your podcast, launch something, create something, take your business to a new level, help others in a big way tackle something difficult and scary? What would you do this year? Are there new habits you want to create? Or let go of some old habits?
This is your year. Use it however you like. What magic can you create?
Putting It into Action
Once you have an idea of what you’d like to do or create, it’s time to make it happen.
Write it down and commit to it. Tell others about your goals and talk to them about your journey and progress. Take help from them if required. Adjust your plan each day/week if you need to, with the blank slate. Do a review every month, and get yourself back on track every new month.
One small step at a time. Make it happen. One fresh start at a time.
I promise: if you commit to yourself and your goals, you’ll create a year of meaningful growth.
